Roy's Stamps

​Born and raised in Niagara wine country, the oldest of 4 children, Roy developed a passion for collecting as a young boy. In his youth, Roy collected bottle caps, sports cards as well as stamps. In 1973, Roy built his hobby into a business when he established Roy’s Stamps. Roy’s specialties include the stamps and postal history of Canada and the British Commonwealth, and he boasts the world’s largest stock of Canadian first-day covers. Roy’s inventory is always stocked with better Canadian mint, used Canadian, along with new and used British Commonwealth. Houtby is a past president of the Canadian Stamp Dealers’ Association; has organized the Best Western Stamp Show in St. Catharines since 1977; and has served as the bourse chairman of the St. Catharines Stamp Club’s “Cathex” show since 1979. Houtby has also chaired the Ottawa Fall Stamp Fair for the past 16 years and has served as bourse chair for several national events, including Royal 2009, BNAPEX 2015, Royal 2018 and BNAPEX 2019. Houtby is also a member of the American Philatelic Society’s Dealer Advisory Council. Roy is currently “Living The Dream” in his retirement. When not working with stamps, Roy is often found on the golf course, supporting the Buffalo Bills and travelling. Roy is the devoted husband to his wife Linda, and a proud grandpa to nine grandchildren.
